New Era Debt Solutions Takes a Stand For Consumers and Publicly Revokes Its Membership in TASC
When New Era first applied for membership with The Association of Settlement Companies (TASC) several years ago, it was to become part of an organization with a very noble goal of creating Debt Settlement standards and practices to help protect consumers. Unfortunately, TASC took its eye off the ball and eventually became what appeared to be an industry association simply looking out for the best interests of the association members and not for consumers themselves.
As a company we started to see these changes taking place rapidly over the past year. The final straw for us came at a recent debt settlement leadership conference where we witnessed TASC members spending much more creative energy thinking up ways to avoid newly passed consumer protection legislation, rather than focusing on what is best for the debt burdened consumers they purported to help.
Once we understood and witnessed the mindset and actions of the majority of TASC members, there was no doubt that New Era would be revoking its membership immediately. Simply because a company belongs to an industry association which claims to protect consumers, does not ensure that they will actually place a client’s financial interest above their own.
As a consumer you must look beyond any industry badge that a company posts on its website. Look at the owners and their reasons for starting and running their business. Look for any consumer complaints with the BBB and other online forums. Look for a long and successful track record of doing for other consumers what the company is claiming they can do for you. Take your time, do your research, and make a decision that makes sense for you.
New Era is proud to revoke its TASC membership and stand with consumers and regulators alike in favor of the recently passed consumer protection laws.
